Compoxer FAQ
Compoxer is a free AI melody generator that turns a text prompt into an original, royalty-free MIDI melody you can edit in any DAW. Below are the most common questions about Compoxer Genesis 1.0 — pricing, commercial use, file formats, supported DAWs and privacy.
What is Compoxer?
Compoxer is a free AI melody generator built to make music creation universal. You describe what you want — a feeling, a tempo, a key, a reference — and Compoxer Genesis 1.0 returns an original melody as standard MIDI you can download, edit and drop into any DAW. The author is always you: Compoxer collaborates with composers, it never replaces them.
What is Compoxer Genesis 1.0?
Compoxer Genesis 1.0 is Compoxer's first generative music model. It converts a natural-language text prompt — optionally guided by controls like vibe, tempo, key, mode and duration — into an original melody delivered as a MIDI file. It is free, available 24/7, and limited to 10 generations per hour per user for fair use.
Is Compoxer really free?
Yes. Compoxer Genesis 1.0, our first model, is completely free and available 24/7. To keep the service fast and fair for everyone, free usage is limited to 10 generations per hour. No credit card is required.
Can I use the music commercially?
Melodies generated with Compoxer are provided royalty-free: you can download, modify, reuse and build on them in your own works, including commercial projects. As with any creative material, the final legal review of the work you publish or commercialize remains your responsibility as the author.
What file format do I get, and what is MIDI?
You get a standard MIDI file (.mid), not finished audio. MIDI stores the musical idea — notes, timing, velocity and tempo — so you stay in full control: change the instrument, edit any note, and arrange it however you like in your DAW. Every major DAW imports MIDI.
Which DAWs does the plugin support?
Compoxer Connect ships as VST3, AU and AAX. It is tested daily in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One and Reaper. The MIDI files Compoxer produces also import into any other DAW or notation software.
How is Compoxer different from other AI music tools?
Most tools render finished audio. Compoxer returns MIDI — the raw musical idea — so you remain in control of every instrument, every note, every choice. It is built on a public ethical commitment: AI as a tool that empowers human creativity and respects the rights of other authors and works, never a substitute for the composer.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. Type a prompt, hit create, and hear it in your browser. You only sign in when you want to save your work or download the MIDI file.
Are my compositions private?
Always. Your prompts and compositions are never used to train any model. They belong to you, and only you, unless you choose to publish them on your Compoxer blog.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the settings in your profile. Deleting your account removes your personal account data. If you need help, contact [email protected].
Will I ever receive the same melody twice?
No. Every generation is checked against a global fingerprint of its musical content, so each melody Compoxer hands you is original and unique — no two requests, from any user, receive the same composition.
